• Genetic Breeder: This site is interesting because it is more of a game than a simulation. It allows for users to begin to understand how alleles are passed on from generation to generation. When students log in, they begin with an informative 11 page presentation, giving the scenario for the game. They are then given a specific time to complete the task that took Mendel several years to figure out. For this simulation, since it is already set up as a lesson, students could work in pairs on completing the allele game. The original lesson could be presented by the teacher, but then students could go through the online lesson prior to beginning the game. Understanding of alleles and genetics can be enhanced by using this program as each generation shows what genes are passed and the frequency. I think this simulation is strong in all areas - has good background information and a fun interactive game to play at the end.
